Gray Queen Mother

John,

Thank you for the excellent queens. When we were making nucs from our colonies this spring, we noticed that the colonies headed by your queens were consistently the best colonies we were finding. Our colonies are headed by queens from three breeders in three different regions of the country. As we mark the colonies with thumb tacks, we would look at the front of the hive before opening it. Almost without fail we could guarantee a hive busting at the seams if it had one of your queens.

Hi John,
I just wanted to take a moment to let you know how pleased I am with the queens that I  received from you last summer.  The queens did a good job of populating the hive and I had very little Varroa Mite drop when treated with powdered sugar.  Now that winter has arrived, I noticed that on warm days (generally around 50 degrees Fahrenheit)  my other bees take their cleansing flights and hang around the hive.  The workers, from your queens, not only take the cleansing flight but are bringing in lots of pollen.  I do not see any flowers in bloom around the house, but the bees are bringing in pollen of many colors, so they are finding the flowers someplace.  They are very industrious workers.
Thanks for the supply of queens.

Just a note to let you know how pleased I  am with the queens I purchased from  Old Sol Enterprises this spring. The queens I received were the largest and most uniform in size I have received in years. I've gotten a very high survival rate and they appear to be going into winter in very good condition. I also appreciate the advise and time you have taken to call and check on the progress of the queens I purchased. As you know I have already ordered queens for next spring. It's nice doing business with  someone who is genuinely interested in his customers  needs.   Thanks again.

John- I am Carl Harrison from Tulsa Oklahoma.  I got some of your queens last fall and they are all doing just great.  How much will your queens be this spring and when will you have some available?  I would like to get another dozen if possible as early as possible.

CUSTOMER TESTIMONIAL

The hives led by queens we purchased from you seemed to seek out a wider variety of
pollen than the hives led by queens from commercial queen breeders. The Old Sol hives gathered a diverse array of colors from brilliant gold to deep purple, while the other hives only stored one or two colors as bee
bread.

We have been very pleased with how the hives headed by your queens came through the winter. We installed 12 of your queens in our apiary last September. We wanted to test their survivability and so we ran them through the winter in five frame nucs, either as one and a half story nucs or one five frame deep nuc box topped by two five frame nuc mediums. They came through the winter extremely well. While relatively quite in February, they were bursting out of the five frame equipment at the end of March. We transferred the hives into 10 frame equipment in early April and removed one to four nucs off each hive. By the end of April they had already built up to full strength again, just in time for our honey flow.

We are located about on hour northwest of Washington, D.C. or and an hour west of Baltimore, so our location forms an equilateral triangle with the two large cities. No smoke has had to be used on the hives led by your queens, because they have been so gentle in temperament, even when we pulled the hives apart to make nucs or do inspections. The other hives in our apiary with commercial stock queens from various sources are not as gentle.

Although we ran the twelve colonies through the winter with no miticide treatments, they were very clean this spring. The drone brood we had to cut out has been clean and the state bee inspector confirmed they looked extremely healthy. In an inspection of our entire apiary of 43 colonies (25 nucs and 18 mother colonies) he found only two mites in late April, which appeared to be dead.

We have been extremely pleased with the quality of your queens and wish you much continued success with your breeding program.

All the best,

Kirsten & Michael Traynor
